New York – 1L Diversity Champion Clerkship Program – Summer 2025
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP and its client Diageo recognize that a diversity of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives is essential to the continued success, innovation and evolution of the legal profession. In keeping with this commitment to fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce, Hunton Andrews Kurth is pleased to partner with Diageo and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (“LCLD”) 1L Scholars Program to offer a unique opportunity for one outstanding first-year law student who has demonstrated a commitment to championing and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in their personal, academic and/or professional pursuits and is committed to championing diversity, equity and inclusion once licensed to practice law. The selected student will participate in an innovative ten-week clerkship with Hunton Andrews Kurth during the summer of 2025 from May 19 to July 25. As a part of this program, selected students will have the opportunity to be seconded to Diageo for a portion of their clerkship to gain real-life exposure to the in-house counsel’s perspective. The student selected for this clerkship also will be enrolled in the LCLD 1L Scholars Program, allowing them to network with lawyers from other LCLD member organizations. Participants will:
- Fully participate in Hunton Andrews Kurth’s 2025 summer program;
- Have an opportunity to work on projects with members of Diageo;
- Have an opportunity to be paired with an LCLD Fellow who will serve as a Mentor (for a minimum of one year);
- Experience projects from both in-house and outside counsel perspectives; and
- Attend the LCLD 1L Scholars Virtual Experience.
Eligibility
Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for this opportunity:
- Currently enrolled as a first-year law student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school; and
- Demonstrated a robust commitment to championing and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in their personal, academic and professional pursuits; and
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.

At the time of posting, the expected weekly salary for this position is $4,327.
