MERS Immersion

This CLE will provide an overview of the Mortgage Electronic Registry System (MERS) with a focus on MERS development and its subsequent legal implications. The Panelists will explore (1) the underlying issues and property doctrines which led to the creation of MERS, (2) MERS during the 2008 financial crisis, (3) Court decisions affecting MERS and (4) common MERS issues for attorneys. The presentation will wrap up with a discussion on a new, potential alternative to MERS and explore DART’s viability as a true competitor.
