Andrews Kurth Kenyon and Ferrere Represent CIFI, DEG and Finnfund in $60 Million Loan to San Francisco, S.A.
(Washington, DC)—On June 30, 2017, Corporación Interamericana para el Financiamiento de Infraestructura, S.A. (“CIFI”), DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (“DEG”) and Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation Ltd. (“Finnfund,” together with CIFI and DEG, the “Lenders”) closed on a US$60 million secured A/B loan facility to San Francisco, S.A. (“SFO”). Cordiant Capital Funds participated in the financing as a B lender.
The proceeds of the loan will be used by SFO to refinance certain existing debt and for the design, development, financing, construction, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a new port in the city of Villeta, Paraguay.
The U.S. based firm of Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP advised the Lenders as international counsel. Local Paraguayan legal advice to the Lenders was provided by Ferrere.
Kleinberg, Kaplan, Wolff & Cohen, P.C. advised SFO as international counsel. Local Paraguayan legal advice to SFO was provided by Mersan Abogados.
