Hunton & Williams’ Bangkok office represented WHA Business Complex Freehold and Leasehold Real Estate Investment Trust (WHABT), on the establishment of Thailand’s first-ever office building REIT and the listing of its initial public offering worth approximately THB 4 billion, having Krung Thai Asset Management Public Company Limited, as a REIT trustee. The REIT invests in freehold and leasehold of real estate and properties. WHABT initially acquired land and buildings of a business complex and a business complex project in Bangkok, which has a combined total floor area of about 52,765 square meters and 30,251 square meters in leasable space. The first trading day was 16 November 2015. The representation included full legal due diligence exercise, the IPO process and tax planning for setting up a REIT. The transaction was led by Bangkok partner Chinawat Assavapokee, along with associates Suphadet Phutthithanakorn and Bongkotkan "Kate" Chumsai Na Ayudhya.
