Intellectual property lawyer Stephen Demm tells Virginia Business that with the interest in and use of 3-D printing rising, serious ramifications could result for IP holders. "If people are making things that look like your brand but it's cheap or isn't made as well, or somebody tries to copy a tool or bicycle helmet and then it malfunctions and somebody gets hurt, you have a problem with bad publicity," he said. "They will need to find a way to protect and police their properties."
