Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advises on Gulf Power Company $74,550,000 Tax Exempt Bond Remarketings

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP acted as counsel to the remarketing agents for the remarketing of $32,550,000 Escambia County, Florida, Pollution Control Revenue Refunding Bonds (Gulf Power Company Project), Series 2003 (the “Escambia County Bonds”), and $42,000,000 Development Authority of Monroe County (Georgia), Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Gulf Power Company Plant Scherer Project), First Series 2002 (the “Monroe County Bonds”). The Bonds are tax-exempt obligations of Gulf Power Company (“Gulf Power”).

The Escambia County Bonds were initially issued to provide funds to refinance the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities located in Escambia County, Florida in Bay County, Florida. The Monroe County Bonds were initially issued to provide funds to refinance a portion of the cost of the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of the interest of Gulf Power in certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities located in Monroe County, Georgia.

Gulf Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. Gulf Power is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service, at retail in 71 communities (including Pensacola, Panama City, and Fort Walton Beach), as well as in rural areas, and at wholesale to a non-affiliated utility.
