Hunton Counsel Travis Hill to Serve as Virginia’s Chief Deputy Attorney General
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Travis Hill has been appointed by Virginia Attorney General-Elect Jay Jones to his senior leadership team and will serve as Chief Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia, effective January 2026.
Hill brings extensive private and public sector experience to his new role. He joined Hunton’s Global Economic Development, Commerce and Government Relations Group (GECON) in 2024 from the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC), where he served as the agency’s CEO and held leadership positions for nearly a decade. Prior to his service with the Virgina ABC, Hill served as Virginia’s Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry under Gov. Bob McDonnell and Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
“Travis is a natural leader with a sharp legal mind that makes him an outstanding choice to serve as Virginia’s next Chief Deputy Attorney General,” said Randall S. Parks, chairman of Hunton’s executive committee. “We have no doubt that his unique experiences as a lawyer, executive, and regulator will serve the Office of the Attorney General and the citizens of Virginia well.”
As Virginia’s Chief Deputy Attorney General, Hill will be responsible for overseeing all legal work performed by the Attorney General's Office including representation of state agencies, universities, boards, and commissions, initiating strategic litigation to protect the rights and interests of Virginians, pursuing consumer protection investigations and actions, handling criminal appeals, and coordinating with other states on multistate investigations and litigation.
“Travis has a keen instinct for navigating complex legal and regulatory matters and has played a crucial role in helping to propel the growth and success of our GECON Group,” said Todd P. Haymore, managing director of Hunton’s GECON Group. “We are grateful to him for his contributions and congratulate him on his appointment. He is an exceptional selection to serve the people of Virginia as Chief Deputy Attorney General.”
“We couldn’t be more excited for Travis, who we know will serve the Commonwealth with distinction,” said Rudene Haynes, who serves as managing partner of Hunton’s Richmond office. “He is an outstanding lawyer, an even better person, and the right choice for the job.”
