Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents IDB Invest and Development Finance Institute Canada (DFIC) Inc. in US$100 Million Subordinated Loan to Colombian Banking Institution Banco de Occidente S.A.

On August 17, 2022, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (“IDB Invest”) closed on a US$70,000,000 tier 2 subordinated loan to Banco de Occidente S.A. (“Banco de Occidente”), a Colombian banking institution.

Subsequently, on November 23, 2022, Development Finance Institute Canada (DFIC) Inc. (“FinDev Canada”) closed on a US$30,000,000 subordinated loan. The proceeds of both loans will be used by Banco de Occidente to originate sub-loans to small and medium size enterprises in Colombia.

The US based firm of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advised IDB Invest and FinDev Canada as international counsel. Colombian advice to IDB Invest was provided by Cuatrecasas. Brigard & Urrutia acted as legal advisors to Banco de Occidente in Colombia.
