Senators predict a narrower climate bill; At bipartisan meeting, talk of an emissions cap just for utilities
The Washington Post
As the U.S. Senate continues its work on a climate and energy bill, Federal Government Relations practice group head Joe Stanko, a former counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Committee who represents industries facing new regulation, has provided insight and analysis to several media outlets. In a Washington Post article, he expressed doubt that a utility-only carbon cap would garner enough votes, and predicted that major power companies will demand other concessions in exchange for backing the bill. And, he told Environment & Energy Daily, the growing number of bills will make it difficult for any one legislative vehicle to get the required 60 votes. Stanko provides strategic planning for corporations developing environmental mission statements or undertaking long-term business planning.
