Prominent Insurance Partner Lorelie S. Masters Joins Litigation Team
Hunton & Williams LLP continues its national expansion with the arrival of Lorelie S. Masters in Washington as a partner in the global litigation team, focusing on insurance coverage law. A nationally prominent insurance coverage litigator, Masters has handled complex cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts across the country and international disputes in the London market and Bermuda.
“Lorie is one of the foremost leaders in the national insurance coverage bar for policyholders,” said Walter Andrews, insurance practice head. “Her experience, combined with her leadership, are a perfect blend to help expand our already successful insurance practice. We are very fortunate that Lorie has joined Hunton and we welcome her to the firm.”
Masters adds, “The opportunity to join Hunton & Williams was compelling. I was intrigued by the firm’s rich legacy and its leading-edge approach to the practice of law. Given the firm’s commitment to promoting women to important leadership positions, my decision was easy.”
Masters writes and speaks extensively on insurance coverage, technology and litigation, as well as on diversity and inclusion topics. She has written two highly regarded treatises and helped to co-found the American College of Coverage and Extra-Contractual Counsel, where she served as its second President in 2014-2015. She serves on the American Bar Association Board of Governors and has served as co-chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation; and has served on the District of Columbia Bar Board of Governors and as president of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. In addition to her legal practice, Masters has represented many individuals and groups pro bono, including policy holders denied health care coverage and victims of human trafficking. She comes to the firm from PerkinsCoie.
Hunton’s insurance lawyers have kept pace with changes in the law and industry, addressing all aspects of insurance coverage and helping clients maximize insurance recoveries through insurance program reviews, claims presentation and negotiation, litigation, alternate dispute resolution, trials and appeals.
