Shemin V. Proctor Named One of Savoy Magazine's 2015 Most Influential Black Lawyers

(Washington, DC)—Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce that Washington, DC Office Managing Partner, Shemin V. Proctor, has been named one of Savoy Magazine's 2015 Most Influential Black Lawyers.

The listing is comprised of the “best of the best” of Black lawyers that are partners within leading national law firms and also corporate counsel from Fortune 1000 corporations. As diversity and inclusion for legal professionals continues to grow, Savoy’s listing of “top lawyers” emerges with an influential cross section of legal professionals representing a diverse range of expertise with national and global responsibilities.

Ms. Proctor represents major energy companies, including natural gas and oil pipelines, energy marketing and trading companies, and midstream service providers, in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and has represented natural gas pipelines before the federal courts. Shemin has represented and counseled clients in numerous rate, tariff, certificate, complaint and compliance matters before the FERC. Shemin also works with clients seeking to construct natural gas storage and liquefied natural gas facilities. In addition, she has counseled energy companies on natural gas matters arising from bankruptcy and has experience in the antitrust area. Ms. Proctor received her J.D. in 1990 from Harvard Law School and joined Andrews Kurth in 1991 after completing a federal judicial clerkship.

Ms. Proctor has been a partner at the firm since 1999 and serves on the Diversity Committee, Policy Committee, Executive Committee and the Women's Initiative Team. She is also a tri-chair of the Associates Committee.
