Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Todd Brown Sworn in as President of North Carolina State Bar

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that A. Todd Brown, Sr. was sworn in as the 89th president of the North Carolina State Bar by North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby at the State Bar’s Annual Banquet on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

A partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth, Brown focuses on a broad variety of complex business litigation and dispute resolution matters. With 37 years of legal experience, Brown is a seasoned litigator and his expertise spans various domains. He adeptly defends products liability cases in both federal multi-district litigation and state court actions, and navigates complex multifamily construction defect lawsuits. Brown is also a formidable force in employment law, handling executive-level matters under Title VII, FLSA, and ERISA, along with cases involving noncompetition agreements, sexual harassment, and wrongful discharge. His practice extends across different jurisdictions, with admissions in Fourth and Eleventh U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, all state and federal courts in North Carolina, and has numerous pro hac vice admissions nationwide.

Brown plays a pivotal role within the firm, co-chairing the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Talent Development Committee, while actively contributing to the Associates Committee and Screening Committee. Additionally, he serves as Office Managing Partner for the Charlotte office, has previously served as the co-head of the firm's commercial litigation practice group, and is a former member of its Executive Committee.

Brown earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and his law degree from the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe and was the student works editor for the South Carolina Law Review.
