US Senate to lag House in passing climate bill in 2009, Platts
Platts
April 27, 2009
Joseph Stanko, head of the firm's government relations practice, was quoted on whether the US Senate would pass a carbon cap-and trade bill in 2009. He said there would be three things that would determine the Senate's speed: the state of the US economy, the results of UN-led climate talks in Copenhagen in December, the participation of developing countries in making greenhouse gas cuts and support of the Obama administration.
Stanko's practice focuses on issue advocacy before Congress, the White House and other Executive Branch agencies in the areas of global climate change, renewable and bio-fuels, the Clean Air Act and other environmental laws, energy policy, and homeland security.
