Hunton & Williams Maintains Top-Tier Privacy Team Rankings in Chambers USA and The Legal 500 United States

Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce its 2012 top rankings from Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500: United States. The firm consistently has maintained its number one ranking in both surveys for its Privacy and Data Security practice.

For the last five years, the firm has held the “Band 1” ranking for Privacy and Data Security by Chambers USA, and also received the top spot in the Chambers Global guide earlier this year. In its Chambers USA guide, Chambers and Partners said that “Hunton & Williams is highly regarded for the strength of its excellent team…and is particularly noted for data breach matters and cross-border data transfer and compliance.” The firm was highlighted for its commercial awareness with clients, praising the privacy lawyers for understanding “the full scope of [their] business.” Lisa J. Sotto, partner and head of the firm’s Privacy and Data Security practice, was again ranked in “Band 1,” and clients noted that she “conveys a sense that you are going to get a consistently right answer at any time of the day.” Partner Aaron P. Simpson also was recognized as an “expert in data security incidents,” stressing that he is “devoted to understanding the business and what you are trying to accomplish.”

In addition to the Chambers ratings, The Legal 500: United States 2012 edition again ranked Hunton & Williams in “Tier 1” for Data Protection and Privacy. It notes that Hunton & Williams’ clients appreciate the privacy team’s “commitment to excellence and work with policy makers, which underpins [the] lawyers’ excellent practical advice.” Lisa Sotto also is recognized as a leading lawyer, and Aaron P. Simpson is recognized in the directory.

In addition to the U.S. rankings, Hunton & Williams also was ranked in Chambers Europe for TMT: Information Technology: Belgium. Brussels managing partner Wim Nauwelaerts was recognized by Chambers Europe as “very straightforward, with a no-nonsense approach.”
