FTC To Hold Age Verification Workshop on January 28, 2026

On January 28, 2026, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) will hold a public workshop on age verification technologies. The workshop will be focused on children’s privacy and safety on online platforms. Specifically, the event will address (1) why age verification matters; (2) the deployment of age verification and estimation tools; (3) navigating the regulatory contours of age verification; (4) how to deploy age verification more widely; and (5) compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Rule. The workshop will bring together technology companies, privacy experts and child safety advocates to discuss the effectiveness and challenges of current and emerging age verification methods.
