Gavel stacked on books

U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy (US District Court for the District of Massachusetts) ordered the postponement of the termination of TPS for Ethiopians in the United States stating that the record is “replete with evidence” that the conditions in Ethiopia remain too dangerous for Ethiopians to safely return and that the government failed to follow statutory requirements before ending a TPS program.  Ethiopians holding TPS continue to remain lawfully in the United States and the employment authorization documents for those with expiration dates of June 12, 2024, and December 12, 2025, is administratively extended through April 13, 2026.  USCIS updated its guidance page for completing Form I-9 for Ethiopians affected by this decision.
