Nicaragua

 DHS Secretary Kristin Noem determined that the country conditions in Nicaragua no longer merit Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States and that designation will not be renewed. The program will expire on September 8, 2025.  Nicaraguan citizens holding TPS status are automatically extended until that date, as well as the employment authorization documents.  They will revert to the status they held prior to their grant of TPS status, unless they have acquired another immigration status allowing them to lawfully remain in the United States. 

Honduras

DHS Secretary Kristin Noem determined that the country conditions in Honduras no longer merit Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States and that designation will not be renewed. The program will expire on September 8, 2025.  Honduran citizens holding TPS status are automatically extended until that date, as well as the employment authorization documents.  They will revert to the status they held prior to their grant of TPS status, unless they have acquired another immigration status allowing them to lawfully remain in the United States. 

Haiti

DHS Secretary Kristin Noem determined that the country conditions in Haiti no longer merit Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States and that designation will not be renewed. The program will expire on September 2, 2025.  Haitian citizens holding TPS status are automatically extended until that date, as well as the employment authorization documents.  They will revert to the status they held prior to their grant of TPS status, unless they have acquired another immigration status allowing them to lawfully remain in the United States. 

**UPDATE**  A U.S. District Court Judge in the Eastern District of New York issued a nationwide injunction blocking the enforcement of the early termination of the TPS program for Haiti.  While DHS indicated it will appeal by filing an emergency stay, the original expiration date of February 3, 2026, is still in place.  We will update as this litigation unfolds.
