Hunton seeks an attorney to join its highly ranked nationally recognized Environmental Law practice group as a full-time, partnership-track associate in our Washington, DC office.

Qualified applicants should have at least four to six years (class of 2020 – class of 2018) of experience with environmental and natural resource issues in the context of compliance counseling, obtaining permits and other regulatory authorizations associated with project development, agency rulemaking, enforcement defense or litigation. The ideal candidate has experience and a strong interest in the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, and related legal authorities and working on project development in the context of energy generation, oil and gas and other infrastructure development. Familiarity with FERC is strongly preferred but not required.

The successful applicant will get to work on precedent setting legal matters with a team that values direct client contact, mentoring and training. As a member of the environmental team, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on interesting, long-term projects with established clients. A successful candidate is dedicated to the practice of environmental law, has self-motivation, strong intellectual curiosity, good judgment, responsiveness, perseverance, and excellent written and oral communication skills. At the time of posting, the expected salary range for this position for full-time on-track associates is $310,000 to $390,000. Actual salary offers may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to, education, training, skill sets, licensure and certifications, practice area, experience, internal equity, and market data.
