Public Lands Energy Development: Trump’s First 100 Days, ABA Community Conversations

May 8, 2025

Energy infrastructure has been an evolving component of multiple-use management of America’s public lands for over 100 years. The last few decades have seen a significant shift toward more renewable energy development and an accompanying array of new points of tension between proposed projects and other uses, including conservation. But the first 100 days of the second Trump Administration may herald the most significant shift in management for such uses in the nation’s history.

Join this panel for a lively discussion of historical and current regulatory and policy perspectives on key considerations facing stakeholders in the development of energy projects on America’s public lands. This 60-minute webinar will comprise commentary from Professor John Leshy of UC Law San Francisco, Kerry McGrath of Hunton Andrews Kurth, Alexandra Ward of Holland & Knight, and Steve Odell of Marten Law, with Jason Hill of Holland & Knight moderating.

This free virtual event is sponsored by the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources’ Public Land and Resources Committee.
