Panelist Bios

Stephen Ross

Stephen is a lead partner in Ernst & Young's fraud investigation & dispute services financial services practice. He has over 15 years of experience assisting clients with regulatory and consumer compliance matters, litigation support and internal investigations. Stephen leads multinational engagement teams tasked with regulatory compliance reviews, loan file re-underwriting, foreclosure process reviews, and expert witness support. He also assists clients with responding to regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions and supports clients in discussions with the CFPB, DOJ, FRB, and the OCC.

Joseph Esposito

Joe is a partner in Hunton & Williams’ financial services litigation and compliance practice group. He has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of litigation involving the student loan industry, ranging from borrower class actions brought against student lenders to disputes between competitors in the industry. His trial experience includes a student loan jury trial in the Rocket Docket, as well as patent, antitrust, corporate tax, customs fraud, and employment law cases.

Broderick Coats

Broderick is a senior manager in Ernst & Young's advisory services practice. He has 15 years of experience assessing consumer compliance risk management programs, conducting fair lending reviews and analyses, evaluating compliance monitoring and testing programs, and conducting compliance audits. He is also a former Managing Examiner from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He has extensive testing experience with various consumer laws such as the ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, FDCPA, Flood, TILA, EFTA, RESPA and Unfair Deceptive Acts or Practices. Broderick has assisted clients with regulatory assessments for CFPB, OCC, and FRB requirements, exam preparation, and vendor management reviews.
