Daily Journal Recognizes Hunton Andrews Kurth Partner Ann Marie Mortimer Among Top Women Lawyers in California
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP Partner Ann Marie Mortimer was named among the 2019 Top Women Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. This coveted West Coast ranking recognizes 100 women lawyers practicing and barred in California who have made a difference to their clients, their firms and their profession this year.
In her profile, published in a Daily Journal Special Edition, Mortimer was recognized for her trailblazing data security and class action work in data breach cases where there is very little precedent to draw from. The publication highlighted Mortimer’s groundbreaking work defending Yahoo! in what is considered the largest data breach in history, with 3 billion accounts impacted globally. Mortimer has handled an impressive volume of complex, high-profile cases involving cutting-edge class actions and multi-district litigation. Those cases have increasingly involved data breaches of some of the largest companies including a fitness apparel manufacturer in a class action lawsuit relating to the widely-reported data breach of the company’s food and nutrition application. She has represented a luxury hospitality company in a class action lawsuit for an alleged security breach compromising hotel customers’ private identifiable information while booking hotel reservations and represents the largest social networking site in the world against a foreign social media company in a suit alleging violation of California laws and the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. This is the second time that Mortimer has received this prestigious honor.
Mortimer is co-head of the firm’s commercial litigation practice and founder and managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office.
