Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that for the third time since 2018, the firm was named Law Firm of the Year at the 2022 Pro Bono Awards hosted by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP). DVAP, in conjunction with the Dallas Bar Association and the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, hosts the annual awards event to recognize extraordinary service in support of their programs for people in need in the Dallas community.

In addition to the top law firm award, Charles Truslow and Ted Huffman were recognized as Outstanding Virtual Clinic Attorneys for their leadership and service to the virtual clinic platform. Both have consistently volunteered at firm-sponsored clinic sessions and have also served at multiple monthly DVAP Eviction Clinics. Truslow and Huffman were also recognized by DVAP as Volunteers of the Month earlier in the year.

Valerie Hollingsworth was awarded the Outstanding Support Volunteer of the Year for her dedication to executing and maintaining each virtual clinic session sponsored by the firm. She was recognized in particular for her contributions in helping the firm’s attorneys deliver services to thousands of applicants.

“The contributions of these attorneys and staff members exemplify our firm’s commitment to not only deliver longstanding, pioneering pro bono services to our communities, but also to foster an atmosphere of growth, participation and leadership at every level of our office. We are immensely proud of all our attorneys, paralegals, and staff members that continue to contribute every day to the betterment of our communities, and we’re grateful for our partnerships with organizations like DVAP,” said Fawaz Bham, partner and chair of the firm’s Dallas office pro bono committee.

Hunton Andrews Kurth is proud of its community service and leadership among law firms in the United States, where the firm’s tradition of pro bono service is well recognized. For 13 consecutive years, the firm has achieved 100% full-time US lawyer participation in pro bono projects, including 116 timekeepers with more than 100 hours of pro bono service for fiscal year 2022. At the end of the firm’s fiscal year on March 31, 2022, the firm had donated more than 52,000 pro bono hours to underserved communities, commemorating 29 continuous years of meeting or exceeding the Pro Bono Institute’s Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge of donating at least three percent of the firm’s annual billable hours to pro bono service.
