At a briefing on data security, members of the Centre for Information Policy Leadership at Hunton & Williams stressed that policy makers, business and the public must balance security with the openness of the Internet. Tinkering with data-breach notifications overlooks the big picture, they said. The group released a white paper with ideas about data breach and information security, to be presented at an upcoming FTC conference.

The Hunton & Williams LLP Privacy and Information Management practice group assists organizations in managing privacy and security risks associated with the collection, use and disclosure of consumer and employee personal information.
