NEW YORK — August 1, 2013 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces Howard E. Schreiber and Carl F. Schwartz will head the firm's global real estate practice group. Schreiber, who has led the practice in Dallas, and Schwartz, who has led the practice in New York, follow practice head William A. Walsh, Jr., who will continue focusing on real estate planning, urban investment and redevelopment, private-public ventures and commercial leasing.

"Our firm is richer from Bill's contributions. He embodies character and values that are a key strength of the practice, while continually displaying a clear dedication and level of excellence to his clients," said Wally Martinez, firm managing partner. "Howard and Carl are the perfect team to lead us into the future."

Schreiber added, "Bill and other team leaders have positioned us to meet our clients' needs." Schwartz continued, "We are taking the reins of a prominent practice comprised of 55 lawyers and 16 paralegals with a presence across the United States and in Europe. We expect to expand in new markets and replicate our New York model, where we grew from 0 to more than 20 real estate lawyers in about a year."

Schreiber, who joined the firm from Jenkens & Gilchrist in 2007 where he chaired the national real estate department for seven years, led Hunton & Williams' legal team in connection with the acquisition and related credit tenant lease financing of 111 drill sites in the Barnett Shale (totaling 408 acres) for 111 Realty Investors, one of the largest property acquisitions from a REIT in 2012. Schwartz joined the firm from Herrick, Feinstein LLP in 2012, where he chaired the real estate department for 10 years. Schwartz led a legal team that advised EBNB 70 Pine Owner LLC in connection with a $300 million construction loan with respect to Manhattan’s 70 Pine Street, the former headquarters of AIG.
