Hunton Advises The Container Store in Chapter 11
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advised The Container Store Group, Inc. (The Container Store) in connection with its successful reorganization, which eliminated approximately $88 million and provided $40 million in new financing through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed in the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on December 22, 2024. Hunton also led an investigation by an independent subcommittee of the Board as part of the restructuring. Through its prepackaged plan, approved by the Court on January 24, 2025, The Container Store will recapitalize to strengthen its financial position, support growth initiatives and promote long-term profitability. Under the plan, The Container Store will become a private company through a debt-for-equity swap with the Company’s prepetition term loan lenders. The company’s other creditors, such as its vendors and trade partners, were unaffected and unimpaired by the case. The Container Store emerged from Chapter 11 on January 28, 2025.
