Hunton Andrews Kurth Partner Shemin V. Proctor Named 2020 Lawyers of Color Power List Honoree
Shemin V. Proctor was recently named to the Lawyers of Color’s Annual Power List. The list is a comprehensive catalog of the nation’s most influential minority attorneys and non-minority diversity advocates. Honorees will be profiled in the Lawyers of Color Power Issue 2020 and will be recognized on February 26 during a reception at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Shemin, the former managing partner of the firm’s Washington D.C. office, is a dedicated member of the Hunton Andrews Kurth team, dividing her time between the D.C. and Houston offices. She has been recognized as a leading lawyer in the energy regulatory by publications such as Chambers & Partners, The U.S. Legal 500, and Thomson Reuters for her representation of major energy companies before the FERC and federal courts. She has served on the Oil Pipeline Regulation Committee of the Energy Bar Association since 2005. Aside from her work, Shemin is a co-chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and was a founding member of the University of Texas School of Law’s Center for Women in Law. And from 2010 to 2018, she served as the director of the See Forever Foundation of the Maya Angelou Charter Schools.
