Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents CIFI in a $16 Million Secured Loan Facility to Hidrosierra S.A.

On December 7, 2018, CIFI Latam, S.A. (“CIFI”) closed on a $16 million secured loan facility to Hidrosierra S.A., a sociedad anónima organized and existing under the laws of the Republic of Ecuador.

The proceeds of the facility are intended to be used by Hidrosierra, S.A. to finance the development, construction, completion and operation and maintenance of the Rio Verde Chico hydroelectric project, with an installed capacity of 10 MW, located in the province of Tungurahua, in the Cantón Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador and associated transmission line, (with a portion of the loan proceeds applied to repay existing debt). In addition to CIFI taking security in certain Project assets, certain affiliates of Hidrosierra, S.A. will provide project completion support.

The U.S. based firm of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, advised CIFI as international counsel. Flor & Hurtados Abogados advised CIFI on Ecuadorian law matters. Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Ferri LLP acted as New York counsel for Hidrosierra, S.A. and Terán Moscoso Abogados Cia. Ltda. advised Hidrosierra, S.A. on Ecuadorian law matters.
