Hunton Andrews Kurth Special Counsel Thomas Griffith Receives Defender of Democracy Award
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP special counsel Thomas B. Griffith has been honored with a Defender of Democracy Award by the Center for Election Innovation & Research, a bipartisan organization that seeks to build voter trust and confidence, increase voter participation, and improve the efficiency of election administration.
CEIR founder David Becker cited Griffith’s work over the past several years “to preserve and protect the integrity of our democracy.” The award was presented at an event honoring the nation’s election officials on July 11 in Washington. Other award recipients include former U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit Judge J. Michael Luttig and former Wisconsin Election Commissioner Dean Knudson.
A retired judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Griffith has been active in efforts to preserve the rule of law in the United States and other nations. He is a member of the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States and frequently speaks and writes about the importance of preserving civics education and defending the U.S. Constitution.
