Hunton Andrews Kurth Attorney and Cooley Law School Alum Represent Alma Mater in $20.5M Sale of Tampa Bay Property

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP recently represented Cooley Law School in the $20.5 million sale of two parcels that previously housed its Tampa Bay campus (Florida) to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The firm also assisted the Law School in leasing its new location for its Tampa Bay campus in Temple Terrace, Florida. The campus is located at 12906 Tampa Oaks Blvd., close to downtown Tampa and the University of South Florida.

The team representing Cooley Law School was led by counsel Gil Acevedo, a Cooley graduate, with the assistance of associate Aidan Gross.

Earlier this year, Cooley entered into an agreement to sell its 13.5 acres current campus to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Cooley is leasing back the current campus at 9445 Camden Field Pkwy, in Riverview, until construction at Tampa Oaks II is complete. 

Acevedo, who represents investors, developers and lenders in commercial real estate transactions at Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Miami office, was honored to represent the law school that prepared him for his career in law. “Thanks to the law school, I am a practicing lawyer today, and I am grateful for this full-circle experience of representing my Alma Mater,” said Acevedo.
