Hunton Andrews Kurth Celebrates Earth Day with Activations Across the Firm
To celebrate the 53rd annual Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is planning a number of interactive Earth Day events to help take care of our planet. Planned by the Firm Green Team, a group comprised of lawyers and professional staff who are charged with continuously improving the firm’s environmental stewardship and sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint, these hands-on events will take place in Houston, Richmond, Miami, and Washington, D.C., as well as other markets.
“Our firm is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work, and Earth Day is an important moment to focus on our environmental impact,” said Kerry McGrath, partner and co-chair of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Firm Green committee. “We are proud to partner with a number of organizations in honor of Earth Day to help perpetuate meaningful change.”
Hunton Andrews Kurth Earth Day events include:
- Miami, FL – The Miami office will join the Turtle Team, a non-profit organization dedicated to ocean & marine life health, for a Marine Debris Cleanup Day on May 13.
- Washington, D.C. – The Washington office will join City Blossoms, an organization that promotes kid-driven gardens, in a planting project at the office’s school partner, Kelly Miller Middle School, on May 20.
- Richmond, VA – The Richmond office is coordinating a volunteer planting event with Capital Trees, where employees can help plant trees and other greenery in the city of Richmond.
- Houston, TX – The Houston office will continue its partnership with Trees for Houston and will host a giveaway in 2023.
This year’s Earth Day theme is “Invest in Our Planet,” highlighting the importance of dedicating our time, resources, and energy to sustainability efforts. To further support this endeavor, Hunton Andrews Kurth is also providing firm-wide suggestions of ways we can each invest in our planet and help reduce our firm’s environmental footprint, from reducing waste and conserving energy, to participating in advocacy and planting trees.
