Hunton Representing San Antonio Spurs in Deal for New Arena and Downtown Development
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is representing the San Antonio Spurs in connection with a new $1.3 billion arena as the centerpiece of a new downtown sports and entertainment district. A term sheet setting out the framework for the new arena was approved by San Antonio City Council on August 21. The new arena will be funded jointly by Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E), the City of San Antonio, and Bexar County. Bexar County residents will be asked to approve the County’s contribution to the new arena at an election on November 4, 2025.
The Spurs are committing more than $2 billion in the project – including $500 million for arena construction, $1.4 billion in private development, $75 million in community benefits and covering all cost overruns – with no tax impact on local residents.
The Hunton team, led by Mark Arnold, includes Clay Holland, Ryan Pedraza, and Diana Martinez.
