NEW YORK — January 12, 2011 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce the firm has entered into an arrangement with Oscar Marquis as an Independent Legal Consultant to the firm. Marquis previously served for over 20 years as an attorney for Trans Union LLC, one of the three national consumer reporting agencies, with over 15 years as General Counsel.
As a consultant to the firm, Marquis brings more than 30 years of experience in privacy, consumer reporting and information management law, focusing primarily on credit reporting and compliance issues involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), other laws that are a part of the Consumer Credit Protection Act, and privacy policy development.
"Oscar's deep industry experience in the consumer data and financial privacy arena fits strategically with the expanding needs of our clients worldwide," said Lisa Sotto, head of the firm’s Global Privacy and Information Management practice. "As global privacy requirements continue to evolve, Oscar's institutional knowledge of complex credit laws will complement our firm's privacy practice, ensuring that we stay at the forefront."
