Hunton & Williams LLP Maintains Top-Tier Rankings in Data Protection

LONDON — 13 November 2012 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce the firm maintained its top-tier rankings in Data Protection in the 2013 edition of Chambers UK, with Hunton & Williams ranked in “Band 1,” and London-based lawyers Bridget Treacy, Richard Thomas and Rosemary Jay ranked as leading lawyers.

Bridget Treacy is Managing Partner of the firm’s London office, and is the head of the UK privacy and data security practice. Chambers UK ranked Bridget as a "Star Individual" in Data Protection. Her background in complex technology transactions enable her to advise on the specific data protection and information governance issues that occur in a commercial context. She is the editor of Privacy and Data Protection, and writes frequently for other outlets.

Richard Thomas serves as Global Strategy Advisor to the Centre for Information Policy Leadership at Hunton & Williams LLP, a global privacy and information security think tank. Chambers UK ranked Richard as a "Senior Statesman" in Data Protection. Prior to joining the Centre, Richard was appointed by HM Queen to serve as Information Commissioner for the United Kingdom (November 2002 to June 2009).

Rosemary Jay has practiced in privacy law for nearly 25 years. Chambers UK ranked Rosemary in "Band 1" in Data Protection. Prior to joining Hunton & Williams, she led the Legal Office of the Data Protection Registrar (now the Information Commissioner) for 12 years and then was head of the information law practice of Pinsent Masons LLP.
