Partner Jarrett Hale speaks to Law360 about the U.S. Supreme Court’s latest ruling stating that an attempt to collect on time-barred debt for bankruptcy is not grounds for punishment, overturning a 2014 Eleventh Circuit ruling. Hale noted that while the majority focused on the legal issue, the dissent “seemed to be focused on the action of debt collectors.” He went on to explain that the claims process often helps parties sort through varying rules and time caps determined by state governments.
