Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that partners Ann Marie Mortimer and Deidre Duncan have been named among Law360’s MVPs of the Year. Mortimer was named in the Cybersecurity & Privacy category for the second consecutive year while Duncan was selected for the Environmental category.

Co-head of the firm’s commercial litigation practice and managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office, Mortimer is an accomplished litigator and a strategic problem solver focused on achieving positive business results in complex cases. She explores new novel cybersecurity litigation threatening the fundamental business of global brands. She has first-chaired high-profile cases to resolution and her ability to decode technical allegations into common-sense themes is among the reasons clients return to her repeatedly to assist with their most complex class action, commercial and data breach cases. In addition, Mortimer was named a Top Woman Lawyer as well as a Top Cyber Lawyer in California by The Daily Journal. She has also been recognized multiple times by the Los Angeles Business Journal for “Most Influential Women Attorneys” and “Top Litigators in Los Angeles.”

Duncan leads the firm’s environmental practice, representing clients on permitting, compliance and litigation relating to the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and other environmental statutes. She represents several of the largest domestic oil and natural gas pipelines and their respective trade associations on environmental permitting, compliance, and litigation matters involving the major federal environmental statutes. She is often called upon to prepare comments for the industry on environmental matters and is involved in multiple regulatory and litigation matters involving the largest pipelines in the United States. A former assistant general counsel for the United States Army, she helped found the Waters Advocacy Coalition, a diverse and powerful industry group comprised of over 60 national trade associations, which became the universally recognized industry voice on the CWA. Additionally, Duncan has been recognized as a 2020 Women Worth Watching by the Diversity Journal, listed as a Future Star in Litigation by Benchmark Litigation (2016-2020), and recognized by Chambers USA as a leader in Environment Law (2014-2020).

With nearly 900 nominations this year, this annual compilation recognizes lawyers who have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals. Mortimer and Duncan are one of only five lawyers recognized nationwide as a MVP in their respective category by Law360, which awards MVP status in each of 37 practice areas.
