Hurricane Sandy Puts Security Systems at Risk

AFP Fraudwatch

Lisa Sotto spoke with AFP Fraudwatch regarding how severe weather can damage business' security infrastructures and can put them at risk for data breaches. "Many of the common safeguards that typically are used to secure personal information are overlooked either because there is little time to put the usual safeguards in place or because the organizations collecting the data … simply don't have the skills or infrastructure in place to impose the usual safeguards," Sotto said. Additionally, William Um said he encourages corporations to review their existing policies because they may find that they are covered for cyber related risks, and if not, consider investing in cyber insurance and that "more and more companies are now considering and actually purchasing cyber liability insurance."
