Congress Works To Revamp Privacy Laws
Compliance Week
As 2009 drew to a close, the House passed a bill that would set a federal standard for when corporations must disclose information security breaches and require them to adopt measures to secure consumers' personal information. Lisa Sotto, partner and head of the privacy and information management practice, noted that a federal law requiring breach notification would be a relief to companies that currently need to comply with 48 breach notification laws in various U.S. jurisdictions.
Sotto focuses on privacy, data security and information management issues.
