Lisa Sotto Recognized Among Leading Women Lawyers in NYC
Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce that Lisa Sotto, chair of the firm’s top-ranked global privacy and cybersecurity practice and managing partner of the firm’s New York office, has been recognized among the Leading Women Lawyers in NYC by Crain’s New York Business.
This inaugural listing features female attorneys who have impacted New York City in significant ways, and honors their distinguished careers and exceptional civic and philanthropic activities.
Lisa has received widespread recognition for her work in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity. In 2013, The National Law Journal named her one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers” in the country and Chambers USA has named her a “Star” performer—the guide’s highest ranking. She serves as chairwoman of the US Department of Homeland Security’s Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee, on which she has served for 12 years. She also was recently selected as an arbitrator in connection with the US Department of Commerce and European Commission’s EU-US Privacy Shield Framework Binding Arbitration Program. She is editor and lead author of the Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Deskbook, a 1,400-page treatise with annual updates. Despite her work globally, Lisa still finds time for community service. When she served as chair of the New York Office Pro Bono Committee, she established a legal clinic at the St. Agnes Homeless Drop-In Shelter and was awarded the Champion of Justice Award by the New York City Bar Association.
