EU Privacy Panel Endorses Cloud Computing, But At A Cost

In early July, Europe's data protection regulators issued guidelines for cloud computing providers. The guidelines recommend people only use providers that can "guarantee" compliance with the EU's stringent data protection laws, which Lisa Sotto says is not realistic. Sotto recommends that global businesses interested in cloud computing carefully consider the new guidelines.
