National Law Journal Lists Two Hunton & Williams Attorneys as Energy and Environmental Trailblazers
Hunton & Williams LLP partners Shannon S. Broome and Deidre Duncan were recently named among the 25 2018 Energy & Environmental Trailblazers by The National Law Journal, which seeks to pay tribute to some of the great minds impacting the crucial intersection of energy production and the environment.
Shannon is managing partner of the San Francisco office and heads up the California environmental practice. She has spent nearly three decades using engineering and legal skill to create federal and California environmental policy and pragmatically solve compliance issues for Fortune 100 oil, auto and manufacturing companies. She helps companies with high-stakes issues to implement new regulations and navigate enforcement/business interruption threats. Shannon is a nationally recognized authority on Clean Air Act matters and is highly regarded for her litigation practice challenging and defending EPA and California regulations and permits before federal and state appellate courts. Deidre is co-leader of the firm’s environmental practice group and has been at the center of one of the most contested environmental debates of the 21st century - defining what bodies of water are subject to the Clean Water Act. She has first-hand experience with CWA jurisdictional issues during a four-year stint as an Assistant General Counsel with the Army. She has also helped organize and spearhead the Waters Advocacy Coalition, an industry group comprised of over 60 national trade associations, that has become the universally recognized industry voice on the CWA. Outside of this influential work, Deidre has navigated authorization, permitting, and other CWA requirements for clients ranging from farmers to the project developers of the Sabal Trail Pipeline, one of the largest and longest interstate pipeline projects to get built in the U.S. in recent history and which stands as a model for how to effectively navigate the complex interstate pipeline permitting process.
