Dallas partner Peter Weinstock was named among the 2018 M&A and Antitrust Trailblazers by the National Law Journal, which spotlights 27 attorneys nationwide who continue to make their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of deal-making, restructuring and financing.

Peter’s practice and his innovative, solutions-focused approach have led to more than 220 successful banking merger and acquisition transactions over the past 18 years.

In addition to Peter’s substantial M&A work, he has also assisted clients with over 300 issuances of equity and debt securities, including six IPOs in the last year. He has helped form shelf charters, with the acquisitions of inflatable charters or rent-a-banks, and the FDIC-assisted transactions for failed banks and assets of failed banks. He has assisted over 100 new bank charter organizing groups in 25 states in the past 13 years, including filings for notable Fintech, RegTech and blockchain companies. His practice has also assisted two of the five largest banking companies with their decision to convert to Subchapter C tax treatment. In more firsts, Peter has also obtained the first Cost of Funds Index (CDFI) for a for-profit entity and facilitated more than 21 strategic plans for banking institutions over the past 18 months.

He has been recognized as an experienced international banking resource—in the past two years alone has been retained as an expert witness in banking law matters and has spoken at Harvard University’s School of Public Policy in Beijing, China, to their largest Chinese banks, asset providers and banking regulators.
