Profiles in Diversity Journal Recognizes Two Hunton Andrews Kurth Partners Among Women Worth Watching
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partners Susan S. Failla and Lorelie S. Masters were named among Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2019 Women Worth Watching®. The honorees, whose profiles will appear in the Journal’s August issue, represent women executives from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors whose accomplishments and contributions have broken new ground.
Based in New York, Failla is co-head of the firm’s Capital Markets practice. She has led capital markets transactions totaling over $100 billion for companies in the consumer products, energy, information services and financial services industries. Her practice spans corporate finance, including securities offerings and syndicated lending, domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities law compliance. She acts as primary outside counsel to the treasury departments of large public companies. Most recently, Failla led the financing of Altria’s 35% investment in leading e-cigarette maker, Juul, and 45% investment in Canadian cannabis company, Cronos, comprising a $12.8 billion term loan and bond offerings of €4.25 billion and $11.5 billion. Masters, based in Washington, DC, is a nationally recognized insurance coverage litigator. She has advised clients on a wide range of liability coverages, including insurance for environmental, cyber, directors and officers, property damage, and other liabilities and loss. She has won significant decisions, trials and arbitrations enforcing insurance for clients, including Tyson Foods, New Century Liquidating Trust, Hoechst Celanese, and Dow Corning. She has written two widely regarded treatises on insurance and international arbitration and, in addition to advising clients, serves an expert witness and arbitrator. Masters also helped found the American College of Coverage Counsel and was its second president. She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association.
