The Deal Profiles M&A Partner Jim Kennedy as a Rising Star

Hunton Andrews Kurth M&A partner James Kennedy II was recently profiled by The Deal as a Rising Star.

Kennedy, who was promoted to partner earlier this year, has advised on several multi-billion dollar deals, such as Pebblebrook Hotel Trust’s $5.2 billion purchase of LaSalle Hotel Properties in 2018 and Service Properties Trust’s $2.4 billion purchase of a net lease portfolio from Spirit MTA REIT this past year. Kennedy was also part of the merger team that created Hunton Andrews Kurth in 2018.

Regarding the coronavirus epidemic and the future of M&A, Kennedy states, “[t]he next steps for us are going to be focused on bridging the post-pandemic valuation gap between buyers and sellers, educating buy-side clients on the risks and benefits of acquiring distressed assets and embracing the new normal in terms of the transaction process.”
