Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that partner Arthur E. Schmalz has been honored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly as a 2025 “Go To Lawyer” for business litigation in the Commonwealth.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly selects “Go To Lawyer” honorees based on the following five criteria:

  • A lawyer who is an expert in his or her field, well-versed in the nuances of the case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter.
  • A lawyer who is experienced and enjoys a record of success, with many cases and/or transactions that give testimony to the quality advice he or she can provide.
  • A lawyer to whom other lawyers make referrals because of his or her expertise and accomplishments.
  • A lawyer who can think creatively and identify all options for a client.
  • A lawyer you would name when a friend from another state calls and says she has a client who needs some legal help in a given part of the commonwealth.

Schmalz has over three decades of experience trying or litigating to completion a wide array of complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts and arbitration proceedings, primarily in the Commonwealth of Virginia. His cases frequently involve high-stakes business and commercial real estate disputes, and he often represents the plaintiffs in those matters. Since 2020 alone, Schmalz has obtained judgments, arbitration awards and settlements for his clients totaling more than $100 million.
