Brian Gottlieb

Brian represents clients in complex litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels, including individual cases, class actions, and multidistrict litigations involving various federal and state statutes. He also advises clients in connection with governmental and internal investigations, including investigations involving the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), bank regulators, and state attorneys general. With experience spanning securities, antitrust, products liability, consumer protection, trade secrets, and government enforcement matters, Brian drafts motions and briefs, manages fact and expert discovery, and counsels clients on litigation strategies and risks.

Prior to joining Hunton, Brian worked at a global law firm in New York, NY. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Barbara Lagoa in the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Miami, FL.

• Represented and advised financial institutions in investigations and adversarial proceedings relating to Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering matters, internal controls, and lending irregularities.
• Advised clients on potential litigation risks related to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and federal and state wiretapping statutes.

• Represented a utility company facing a securities class action, securities opt-out actions, and related enforcement actions stemming from allegations of public corruption.
• Represented a financial institution in litigating and resolving class actions and individual actions related to alleged manipulation of benchmark interest rates.
• Defended automotive manufacturers facing consumer fraud, products liability, and other claims regarding allegations that their vehicles emitted pollutants in excess of limits imposed by applicable US law.
• Advised a client in connection with securing a global resolution of a criminal investigation and civil action stemming from alleged improper political contributions.
