P. Reiko Koyama

Reiko is a litigation partner focused on class action defense, complex commercial disputes, and privacy and cybersecurity matters. She has played a leading role in defending some of the nation’s most high-profile data breach class actions and is a trusted advisor on privacy disputes, multidistrict litigation, and class action settlements. Reiko represents a broad range of clients in litigation and regulatory matters involving consumer protection, deceptive trade practices, and advertising and marketing issues. She guides clients through every stage of a case, from pre-suit strategy and motion practice to discovery, settlement, and trial. Before joining the firm, Reiko clerked for the US District Court for the District of Maryland.

Reiko is also deeply committed to pro bono advocacy, regularly representing incarcerated clients in parole and post-conviction matters. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project. Her leadership and professional achievements have been widely recognized, including being named a 2025 Best Under 40 honoree by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). She was also selected as a 2023 Fellow in NAPABA’s Leadership Advancement Program and a 2021 Pathfinder with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

• Successfully obtained three dismissals of class action complaints against major energy company that experienced a ransomware cyberattack.
• Obtained successful defense verdict for large manufacturer in 9-week federal trial under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Represented various companies in all stages of class actions and regulatory responses following major cybersecurity incidents.
• Defended wireless retailer against various claims concerning theft of cryptocurrency and privacy invasions.
• Achieved favorable decisions on class certification and settlement for leading manufacturer in a consumer class action alleging claims of false and misleading advertising.
• Defended a leading manufacturer in a complex mass tort action involving novel legal theories, summary judgment briefing, and numerous depositions.
