Hunton Andrews Kurth Advises on Duke Energy Ohio, Inc.’s $750 Million First Mortgage Bonds

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advised Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. (the “Company”) on an SEC-registered offering of $750 million aggregate principal amount of the Company’s first mortgage bonds, consisting of (i) $375 million aggregate principal amount of First Mortgage Bonds, 5.25% Series, due April 1, 2033; and (ii) $375 million aggregate principal amount of First Mortgage Bonds, 5.65% Series, due April 1, 2053.

The Company, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation, is a regulated public utility primarily engaged in the transmission and distribution of electricity in portions of Ohio and Kentucky, in the generation and sale of electricity in portions of Kentucky, and the transportation and sale of natural gas in portions of Ohio and Kentucky. As of December 31, 2022, the Company’s service area covers approximately 3,000 square miles and supplies electric service to 900,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers and provides transmission and distribution services for natural gas to approximately 550,000 customers. As of December 31, 2022, the Company’s asset portfolio includes approximately 1,080 megawatts of owned generation capacity, 19,800 miles of distribution lines and 1,800 miles of transmission lines.
