Hunton Promotes Five Attorneys to Counsel

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Tyler Grant, Vincent V. Hilldrup, Michael Reed, Bennett Sooy, and Tianlu Zhang to counsel. The firm proudly recognizes these talented individuals for their accomplishments and client service.

Tyler Grant (Corporate, Miami) is a structured finance lawyer who regularly represents investment banks, issuers, asset managers, sponsors, lenders, borrowers, and investors in a variety of transactions and transaction types, including those involving novel asset classes. As a member of the firm’s structured finance and securitization team, his practice includes portfolio acquisitions, refinancings, venture finance transactions, warehouse facilities, and securitizations of mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities. He currently serves on the boards of the Jacksonville Housing Finance Authority and Scenic Jacksonville and as president of the board for the Springfield Preservation & Revitalization Council. Grant received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Vincent V. Hilldrup (Corporate, New York) is a structured finance lawyer with extensive experience in mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities. Drawing on hybrid finance and corporate experience, he advises issuers, underwriters, and other market participants in connection with residential mortgage and other asset-backed securitizations. Hilldrup received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University and his law degree from the Université Paris and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Michael Reed (Labor and Employment, Houston) represents corporate clients in all manner of labor and employment matters, including non-compete and trade secret litigation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and union organizing.  He also advises organizations and their management teams on labor and employment and employee benefit matters in formation, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings. Reed received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and his masters and law degrees from Texas Tech University.

Bennett Sooy (Litigation, Washington) focuses his practice on representing clients in antitrust and other civil litigation, obtaining merger clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, government investigations, and antitrust counseling. He has experience advising clients in complex matters involving competition laws and regulatory compliance. Sooy received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from the George Washington University Law School.

Tianlu Zhang (Corporate, Washington) centers her practice on complex corporate securities matters as well as general SEC reporting and compliance, with a focus on Real Estate Investment Trusts. She also advises clients on a wide range of capital markets transactions, including public offerings, private placements, and various types of debt issuances. Zhang received her undergraduate degree from the University of Hong Kong and her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude.
