Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents J.P. Morgan Securities LLC in Connection with Georgia Power Company Tax-Exempt Refunding Issuance

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP acted as counsel to J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, as underwriter, in connection with the issuance of $108,155,000 Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), First Series 2018 (the “Bonds”). The Bonds are limited special obligations of the Development Authority of Burke County and are payable solely from the loan repayments under a promissory note issued pursuant to a loan agreement related to the Bonds with Georgia Power Company (“Georgia Power”).

The Bonds were issued to provide funds to refund the Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), First Series 1992 in the aggregate principal amount of $13,155,000, the Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), Eighth Series 1994 in the aggregate principal amount of $20,000,000 and the Development Authority of Burke County (Georgia) Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), Second Series 1995 in the aggregate principal amount of $75,000,000 (collectively, the “Refunded Bonds”). The Refunded Bonds were issued to refinance the cost of the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of the interest of Georgia Power in certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities located at the Vogtle nuclear electric generating plant in Burke County, Georgia.

Georgia Power is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Georgia, at retail in over 600 communities (including Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Rome, and Savannah), as well as in rural areas, and at wholesale.
