Hunton & Williams advises on Georgia Power Company $185,000,000 Tax Exempt Bond Remarketings
Hunton & Williams LLP acted as counsel to the remarketing agents for the remarketings of $85,000,000 Development Authority of Burke County, Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), First Series 2012 and $100,000,000 Development Authority of Burke County, Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project), Second Series 2012. The Bonds were originally issued by the Development Authority of Burke County, Georgia and the proceeds were loaned to Georgia Power Company to provide funds to refinance the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of the interest of Georgia Power Company in certain air and water pollution control and sewage and solid waste disposal facilities located at the Vogtle steam electric generating plant in Burke County, Georgia.
Georgia Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. Georgia Power is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Georgia, at retail in over 600 communities (including Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Rome, and Savannah), as well as in rural areas, and at wholesale currently to OPC, MEAG Power, Dalton, various EMCs, and non-affiliated utilities.
